15 Year Anniversary Issue

15 Years of Texas Music
It's difficult to believe that 15 years have passed since our first issue hit newsstands back in 2000. So much has changed during this decade and a half, and yet so much has remained the same. We're still enjoying the extraordinary diversity that defines the state and its musical artists - marveling at performers who emerge across genres to inspire and entertain us - while recognizing how many fine artists we're unable to grant coverage because of finite resources. That's the reality of living in a state that produces so much talent. We've been blessed over the years, which makes publishing Texas Music such a delight. Join us for a look back.

Big Nac
In March, more than 40 bands across multiple genres - country, rock, blues, Tejano, bluegrass - will descend upon the East Texas city of Nacogdoches, the "Oldest Town in Texas" to kick off the music festival season. We introduce you to "Nacogdoches Red," profile the General Mercantile and Oldtime String Shop and reveal the bands performing at the first edition of Big Nac.

Q & A: James McMurtry
James McMurtry didn't intend to wait six years between new albums - he was just busy. The veteran singer-songwriter has returned with Complicated Game, his first album since Just Us Kids in 2008. In this Q&A, McMurtry speaks with Dan McLeese about what makes this album different from its predecessors.
